A Little About The Area

Astor, FL is located west of the St Johns River between Lake George and Lake Dexter. Astor is surrounded by the wilderness of the Ocala National Forest. The Astor census had a population of 1,645 as of July 2016.

The recognized Astor Bridge, a single-leaf bascule bridge that carries State Road 40 over the St Johns River defines the borders of two Florida counties; Volusia County to the east of the bridge and Lake County to the west of the bridge.

A natural wonder, the St. Johns River (Spanish: Rio de San Juan) is one of only a few rivers in all of North America that flows north. The 310 miles of the St Johns River flows northward from Vero Beach to Jacksonville.
